Improved Iron Phosphate Corrosion Resistance by Modification with Metal Ions

چکیده

ron phosphate coatings have found a wide range of use in the metalI finishing industry as a convenient method for achieving reasonably high levels of corrosion resistance. Flexibility of processing parameters and ease of use are probably the biggest reasons that iron phosphating enjoys its continued popularity. The corrosion resistance of iron phosphate coatings can be dramatically improved by the selective addition of combinations of certain divalent metals. Excellent results have been attained by adding mixtures of zinc, nickel, and calcium at concentrations below 200 ppm to conventional iron phosphating baths. Changes in the iron phosphate coating brought on by these metal additions have promoted increases in corrosion resistance from 10 to 75%.

Modified Zinc Phosphate Coatings: A Promising Approach to Enhance the Anti-Corrosion Properties of Reinforcing Steel

Reinforcing steel embedded in fresh concrete develops a protective passive layer on its surface. This layer, which is formed as result of high alkalinity of the concrete pore solution (pH~13), consists of γ-Fe2O3 adhering tightly to the steel. As long as that oxide film is present, the steel remains intact [1]. However, chloride ions attack and concrete carbonation can destroy the film and, in ...

INVESTIGATION INTO SYNERGISTIC EFFECT OF MOLYBDATE AND PHOSPHATE AS AN INHIBITOR FOR MILD STEEL CORROSION PREVENTION IN SIMULATED COOLING WATER

The synergistic behavior of molybdate and phosphate ions in mitigating the corrosion of mild steel in simulated cooling water was evaluated performing potentiodynamic polarization and impedance spectroscopy tests. Phosphate and molybdate showed a synergistic effect on corrosion inhibition of steel in simulated cooling water. The observed reduction in anodic and cathodic current densities could ...

In vitro osteoblastic differentiation of human bone marrow cells in the presence of metal ions.

For periods up to 21 days human bone marrow was cultured in control conditions that favor the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblastic cells. The effect of AISI 316L corrosion products and the corresponding major separate metal ions (Fe, Cr, and Ni) were studied in three different phases of the culture period in order to investigate the effects of metal ions in cell populations represe...

Decreased consumption of Ca and P during in vitro biomineralization and biologically induced deposition of Ni and Cr in presence of stainless steel corrosion products.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 316L stainless steel (SS) corrosion products on the in vitro biomineralization process, because tissue necrosis, bone loss, impaired bone mineralization, and loosening of orthopedic implants are associated with ions and debris resulting from biodegradation. Rat bone marrow cells were cultured in experimental conditions that favored the...

Technological capabilities of surface layers formation on implant made of Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy.

PURPOSE The aim of the presented research was to find a combination of surface modification methods of implants made of the Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy, that lead to formation of effective barrier for metallic ions that may infiltrate into solution. METHODS To this end, the following tests were carried out: roughness measurement, the voltamperometric tests (potentiodynamic and potentiostatic), and th...
